The Platinum Fashion Mall

In the evening, we reach Platinum Fashion Mall (222 11th Floor Petchburi Road, ThanonPetchburi, Ratchthevi, Phone: 02-121-8000) for dinner, follow by shopping. It was right next to Central World, and opposite to Pratunam Market across New Petchburi Road.

Platinum Fashion Mall is a huge building with more than 2200 shops selling clothes and accessories, definitely a paradise for shopaholic, we were so excited and wanted to spend the whole night shopping there. The shopping mall wasn’t one of the must visit attractions in my list, so I didn’t do much research about it. We realized that some shops started to close after our dinner, finding it weird but didn’t really pay much attention about it, until more and more shops are closed along the way. End up a shop owner told us that Platinum Fashion Mall closing at 2000, no one will ever expected a big shopping mall to close at 2000 everyday, at least not us…

Pratunam Wholesale Market

Pratunam Market is a popular wholesale market in Bangkok which always crowded with local and foreign shoppers, it is located at intersection of Ratchaprop and Petchburi roads to Ratchaprarop Soi 3, which is opposite Platinum Fashion Mall across New Petchburi Road. There are both indoor retail shops which open from 1000-2100, and outdoor stalls that normally available during early morning to around 1000 and open again at evening time, but that may vary and can be dynamic, my suggestion is to visit between 1100 – 2000.

You can get clothes, shoes, and fashion accessories at wholesale prices, it can even cheaper if buying in bulk like 3 pieces and above. The market is targeting low or lower middle income buyers, so the price is cheap but that also reflects the quality. Some shops offer delivery service to your hotel, no harm asking if you are buying a lot, and there are also several shipping agents around offering overseas courier service.

Pratunam Market is also famous with its huge variety of delicious authentic local foods along the roadside. We gave up the hotel breakfast to keep our stomach empty, hoping to try as much street foods as we could at Pratunam Market, which was just 5 minutes walk from our hotel.

Ten Stars Inn - Exterior

We stayed at Ten Stars Inn in Bangkok from Day 3 to Day 7, not really a pleasant experience… I didn’t care to take much photos about the hotel, so most of the pictures shown here are from Agoda.  PS:  Don’t let the below pictures fool you!!!

The hotel was located at 44/1-2, Soi Petchburi17, Petchburi rd., Phatathai, Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand 10400 (Tel: +66 02-653-4979). Hotel’s location is good, less than 5mins walk to Pratunam Wholesale Market and Pantip Plaza, around 15mins walk to Platinum Fashion Mall and Airport Rail Link Ratchaprarop station. Nearby have stores, restaurants, massage, night market, so convenient. These are the only selling points that I found.

Our room was at 8th floor but lift can only reach 7th, we have to climb a level to our room. It wasn’t a big problem for us until we realized that the receptionist passed us a wrong room key, the security guard who helped to carry our luggage just walked away with the door key without saying a word, leaving both of us standing outside the room for 10mins. No choice, I went down to reception for follow up, ended up a house keeping staff holding master key helped to open the door for us. In the whole process, no one cared to approach us and offer help and explanation. Worse experiences came in the next few days, receptionists were rude, busy playing with their phone and ignoring us. They even shouted at us when we asked the same thing twice for confirmation…
