Top 3 Night Markets in Taipei City

Taipei has some of the finest night markets in all off Taiwan, actually probably in all of Asia as well.  There are hundreds of night markets scattered throughout the Taipei area, and each has its own character and charm.

If you are pressed for time, then here are the top 3 night markets to visit in Taipei City.  Try to at least visit one of them, because you haven’t been to Taipei if you haven’t visited a night market.

Here are the Top 3 Night Markets in Taipei City:

3.  Shilin Night Market

Starting the list at number 3, is Shilin Night Market which is located in the northern part of Taipei City.  This night market is one of the largest in the city and draws probably the largest tourist crowds.

In this night market, you can find nearly everything there, from clothing, household wares, souvenirs, to of course an abundance of street food.  This is a great place to go if you only got one day in Taipei, because it gives you a great introduction to the street food scene in Taipei City.

Take the MRT to Jiantan MRT station, and take exit #1.

There are two sections of Shilin Night Market.  The first section is the indoor hawker food center, where you will find an abundance of street snacks.  This is located right when you exit from the MRT station.   The second section is the area about 10 minutes north, which is the outdoor market.  This is where the more authentic night market lies.

Another awesome thing about Ningxia Night Market is that it serves up a lot of authentic “old time” Taiwanese snacks that is slowly disappearing from Taipei City as the city continues to modernize.  So come here on an empty stomach, because you will be treated to some cheap and great food here!
