Monster-Village

XiTou  Monster Village (溪头妖怪村), an interesting Japanese style attraction, one of the hottest tourism spots in Nantou (南投). The place full of creativity, from concepts, buildings, foods, souvenirs, to the “creatures” staying there… Monster Village was located at the entrance of Xitou Nature Education Area (溪頭自然教育園區), with address No. 2-3, Xingchan Rd, Lugu Township Nantou County, 558 (南投縣鹿谷鄉內湖村興產路2-3號). JiJi Train Station (集集火车站) was built during Japanese Colonial Era, for the purpose of materials transporting for new power plant construction. It was one of the few old train stations available in Taiwan. Locals in JiJi had very limited transportation choices before the JiJi Train Line was constructed, rail push-trolleys and porters were the main one. After since JiJi Train Station was opened for service, JiJi town was able to reach out to other places more easily, and as a chain reaction brought up economies of surrounding villages, thanks for the improvement in their connectivity.

CheCheng Train Station (車埕火车站 ) was the last station of JiJi Train Line, well known as the most beautiful train station.  It was located at CheCheng Village (車埕村) with address 553, Nantou County, Shuili Township, 民權巷2號, which nearby MingTan Reservoir (明潭壩頂). During Japanese Colonial Era, push-trolley track was built between PuLi (埔里) and CheCheng to transport sugarcane produced from PuLi sugar factories. Up to hundred of push-trolleys stopped at CheCheng during sugarcane transporting, because of that locals called the placed “car depot” and that was how the name CheCheng came from.

Several years later, JiJi Train Line was built for construction of a new power plant, and CheCheng was included as one of the important stations in transferring construction materials and timber. Originally, CheCheng Station was built of steel and concrete, but it was damaged badly during 921 earthquake. It was then being rebuilt with timber, the design and architectural look classical.

China meat scandal hits Starbucks, BK, Papa John's

Fast food for Wednesday, anyone?

The Chinese meat scandal expanded to at least three new, major fast-food brands and one new nation on Tuesday, and more are expected to soon join the embarrassing fray.

Burger King, Starbucks and Papa John’s all said they, too, have stopped using any meat from the suspect supplier. At the same time, the crisis spread to Japan, where McDonald’s confirmed some of its Chicken McNuggets were made with meat from the supplier, Husi Food.

ShueiLi Train Station (水里火车站) was one of the station of JiJi Train Line (集集火车) in Nantou (南投), the nearest train station to Sun Moon Lake. The station was well known with its architectural design in white, having the look like western style buildings. Although this old station no longer as bustling, but still the grandest among all JiJi Train Line stations.

Getting to ShueiLi Train Station (水里火车站)

After checking out accommodation before heading out for the day, we took public bus at Feng Chia University (逢甲大学) bus stop, the one opposite Mc Donald at FuXing Road (福星路) to Taichung Railway Station (台铁台中站 ). You can take bus services 5, 25, 29, 33, 35 or 37 at that bus stop to Taichung Railway Station, same for the opposite direction.
