Hotel Sea Lion

Hotel Sea Lion is one of the most famous hotels in Pulau Ketam which located right in front of ferry jetty with less than 3mins walking distance, the big white banner hanging on top of the building makes it impossible for tourists to miss it. You can contact them at +6012 2648052 (Mr. Cha Keng Lee) or +6013 6723614 (Ms. Lim Boy Chu).

There were a total of 60 rooms in the hotel, big enough to host up to 190 people. The hotel has a very convenient location, it was surrounded by seafood restaurant and mini stores. The island’s centre was just 5mins away from the hotel, that area was full of shops and restaurants, you can also find morning market there.

The hotel looked old, externally and internally, common area and toilet looked dirty, old and gloomy.  Maybe it was too little visitor during our stay and that caused the area so quiet, I felt uneasy every time passing by.

Hotel Sea Lion - 2nd floor common area

Common area, not much space for more furnitures nor big group gathering.

Hotel Sea Lion - common toilet

Common toilet, I find the contract between yellow and pink looked weird…

We paid RM196 for 2 connected VIP rooms (Connecting VIP Room) that can accommodate 10 of us. It came with 4 double beds, the empty space was just enough to fit another 2 extra single beds.

The room was clean with non-sticky floor. Bed sets were ok, there wasn’t any funny smell on pillows and blankets, quite comfortable. Air conditionals were old and we hardly feel any cold air at the beginning but it did serve it’s purpose after a while. Another selling point of the room was its’ sea view, with jetty was just right in front of us.

Toilet looked a lot better that common toilet, although it looked old, but was clean with no unpleasant smell, we had no problem using it.

The toilet was clean and ok.

There were other facilities available like satellite TV in room, free Wifi, iron and hair dryer (on request), hot/cold water dispenser at common area, you can also request for laundry service.

The hotel provides also other services like bicycle rental, speed boat and river cruise services, karaoke and mini store selling local produce. We rented single seat bicycle for RM5, we found the quality was bad, should had rented from the restaurant beside.

Bicycle rental, quality was quite bad.

You need not to walk far for local produce, can get at the hotel’s lobby.

Overall, the package we have got worth the money, it was really cheap for such a spacious room and convenient location. Well, we didn’t expect a very new, clean and nice hotel with 5 start service when we made reservation, after all staying in an old style hotel is one of the good ways to experience the local culture and lifestyle, don’t you agree?

If you are interested in the hotel, can find more information at their website or book through Agoda.
