Canon ELPH 310 HS Review
Many people have asked me what types of digital cameras I use during my travels to take the amazing pics on my blog. Well recently, I have bought a brand new Canon Powershot ELPH 310 HS digital point and shoot camera and I am quite pleased at how well it performs. Here is my Canon ELPH 310 HS review.
The Canon ELPH 310 HS digital camera is commonly known as the Canon Powershot ELPH 310 HS camera in North America, or known as the Canon IXUS 230 HS camera in Asia. The first thing I noticed about the camera was that it was very sleek and very fashionable. It comes in various colours: silver, green, pink, blue, and purple. The one I purchased in Singapore was a purple colour one, and it was nice!
My Canon ELPH 310 HS camera (known as the IXUS 230 HS in Singapore)
The Canon ELPH 310 HS Camera is packed with solid features. It is a 12 mega pixel camera, equipped with 8x optical wide lens! That is pretty damn good for a point and click camera. On top of that it is equipped image stabilization techonlogies to enhance pictures taken in dim lighting conditions. What I love about this camera for traveling is that it has all the features you need to take excellent scenary shots, and at the same time it is nice and compact, which makes this quite a convenient and powerful camera to use.
One of my greatest issues with point and shoot cameras is taking pictures in low lighting or at night time. Always, my pictures end up blurry if I do not use a tripod. However with this Canon, I was able to take crisp night shots without any tripod! It seems the image stabilizers did the trick. Here are some pics I took when I was viewing the Resort World at Sentosa Island in Singapore.
Crisp pictures of the cruise ship at night time near Sentosa Island in Singapore. No tripod used!
Taking pictures of the laser light show at Resort World in Sentosa Island, Singapore. The camera picked up the lighting effects very well, with no noise or distortion in the image. No tripods used!
Capturing the live show across the river at Sentosa Island. The zoom works like a charm. Again no tripod used!
Putting the optical zoom to the max! Still nice and crisp.
Another great feature of the Canon ELPH 310 HS camera is its auto functions. This is designed perfectly for the traveler who does not want to fiddle around with all the camera settings. The sensors on the Canon seem to do a very good job in automatically deciding exactly which photo setting to use for the occassion. Here are some more shots I took to test this feature out.
Testing the macro modes of the camera. It automatically picked up the details of my dinner quite well. By the way that was an awesome dinner I had the other day!
More macro mode shots.
After taking pics of my food, it automatically refocussed with its face detection mode to take a portrait picture of myself. Cheers!
So there you have it my exclusive Canon ELPH 310 HS review. I highly recommend this camera for all your general purpose use during your travels. It is nice and compact, and packs a punch in terms of powerful features you can use. At less than 200 USD (get it here from Amazon now!), this is considered a major steal for such a powerful device!
